Butter once again voted Knoxville’s favorite food

Posted on May 16, 2008May 16, 2008 by Bjorn Knoxley

In other news, butter was just named Knoxville’s favorite food for the 33rd year in a row. Butter originally had competition from lard, but health conscious Knoxvillians promoted butter as a better alternative, and lard has since dropped to Number 14 on the list of favorites. The Top 5 also includes macaroni, pizza, salt, and sugar, while assumed favorites such as barbecue pork (#7) and hamburgers (#9) were lower on the list. Normally condiments such as butter, salt, and sugar would not be considered “foods.” However, enough observational studies have concluded that, in fact, many Knoxvillians eat these items, and even mayonnaise (#11) and ketchup (#6), from the container with a spoon.
