Halls couple suing Hollywood to get daughter back

Posted on July 18, 2006 by Bjorn Knoxley

A couple in Halls were shocked to see their stray daughter show up in a Hollywood blockbuster. Last summer, Noreen and Hubert Bean were watching the latest Tom Cruise thriller, War of the Worlds, when they spotted their stray daughter Lurlene, now known as Dakota Fanning, in a prominent role in the movie. Records show that the Beans claimed to have had a daughter around 1994, that wandered off two years later and was never seen again. Additionally, it turns out that Dakota was adopted from a Knox County stray children’s center in 1996, right around the time Lurlene disappeared. They filed a lawsuit late last week against Hollywood, Tom Cruise, Scientology, and Steven Spielberg to get rights to their daughter and all the money she has made as the tiny star of several motion pictures. A spokesperson for Hollywood would not comment on ongoing legal proceedings.
