Halls funeral home gives families one month to retrieve loved ones

Posted on March 25, 2006 by Bjorn Knoxley

The financially troubled Halls Memory Gardens has been granted a permit to open an apple orchard on its grounds. Wade and Beverly Reynolds, owners of the now-closed cemetery, say that the financial difficulties are so severe that a completely new business plan is necessary. According to Beverly, “We’ve been planting people for as many years as I can remember, and not one thing has sprouted up. I thought all was lost until the idea of an apple orchard came to me. Not only do we have plenty of land for the trees, the land is very fertile.” For a limited time, the Reynolds family will allow relatives of previously buried individuals to retrieve the bodies. Hours for retrieval are 9am until 4pm and shovel rental is $125 per half hour. Bodies not claimed will be put to a good use in fertilizing future apple trees.
