Howard Dean, after coming under fire for wanting the votes of those with Confederate flags on their pickup trucks, has altered the focus of his campaign. “I just meant we needed the votes of everyone. People with Confederate flags on their pickup trucks are just another part of the population that we need on our side. That was not meant to be a racist remark. Now, rather than take a chance of offending others, we will focus all the energies of our campaign directly where we have the most support – on people that wear large white robes and have big white hoods.”
