Local man claims ‘The Jerk’ to be an illegal documentation of his life

Posted on December 2, 2002 by Bjorn Knoxley

Audrey Paulson claims the storyline for the 1979 film ‘The Jerk’ was stolen from his actual life. A lawsuit is expected to be filed within weeks. Legal action would have been taken earlier, but Audrey first saw the film weeks ago through a bedroom window. He was apparently hiding in some bushes for warmth outside a home in Claxton, Tennessee. “The story doesn’t parallel my life exactly,” states Audrey “but I have been homeless for years, have a thermos, and wouldn’t mind living with Bernadette Peters. I’m not hoping for personal gain here, if I win the lawsuit I’ll send all the money back to my sharecropping family in Mississippi.”
