More progressive than most, Tennessee to add ‘immigration lanes’ to highway system

Posted on April 11, 2006 by Bjorn Knoxley

In an attempt to make it easier for illegal immigrants to become American citizens, Tennessee is revamping interstate systems to include immigration-only lanes. “It’s very likely that most immigrants want to become American citizens, but simply haven’t been able to navigate traffic.” said the Senate Republican Caucus Chairman. “And when the new immigration-only lanes open up, the process will only be easier.” Democratic opposition argues that the new system will unfairly hinder those immigrants that do not drive on the interstate, but options for back roads and ancillary routes have not been offered.
