One Knoxville healthcare system copes with uninsured patients

Posted on August 21, 2005 by Bjorn Knoxley

One Knoxville healthcare system has plans for coping with the 1000s of uninsured patients that are expected due to the changes in TennCare. “This hasn’t been announced to staff yet, so please keep the name of the healthcare system out of the story for now. Starting in October 2005, all uninsured patients are to report to the really ugly buildings we have in downtown Knoxville. All those with insurance and/or a lot of cash should visit us at Turkey Creek in the pretty buildings.” states an official spokesperson. “The downtown location will be used as a training ground for new doctors, and those just testing out the field to see if they have general interest. This will benefit everyone by keeping costs down in the downtown area and by providing a much better service to those visiting the Turkey Creek location.”
