Proposed red light cameras spur other proactive measures

Posted on February 20, 2006 by Bjorn Knoxley

Knoxville will soon have red light cameras at several intersections, cameras that are in place to watch us IN CASE we do something wrong. Many folks think these cameras are such a good idea, that additional proactive safety measures are being proposed throughout Knoxville.

Policies currently under consideration include:
1. Fertility testing with every purchase of ‘Mr. Mom’ or ‘Baby Boom’ on DVD.
2. Random cavity searches at the Knox County border (upon leaving the county only).
3. Tests for sexually transmitted diseases required with the purchase of all breath mints.

When questioned about the red light cameras and other policies under consideration, Knox County officials have made it very clear that it’s our Constitutional right to be watched like a hawk and that these rights will not be taken from us.
