KNOXVILLE — Harold Sneed, 79, called the city this week to say he still has the 1994 Tazewell Pike study, the whole thing, and that anybody working on the new one is welcome to it.
Sneed retired from the county road department in 1999 and lives a short way off the Pike. The City Council approved $248,000 for a consultant to study the corridor again. Sneed has offered his copy every time a new study has come up, and each time the person on the phone has said they would pass it along.
“I don’t need it back, that’s what I tell them,” Sneed said. “The maps are good. The garage gets damp in the spring, and one year I had it in the spare room by the dehumidifier and had to move the bed out some, so now it’s in a plastic tote with the lid on, the clear kind, so I can see it’s still there. There’s a part in there about the left turn by the funeral home that I always thought was right. I’d have to look at it again, but I think it still is.”
He kept the letter that came with his copy, which thanks him for his time and says the department hopes he will stay involved. It is in the tote, on top.
He said he plans to leave the tote on the shelf by the door, in case somebody comes by.
